The company provides a privacy-focused search engine, mobile apps, and browser extensions to help users avoid tracking and targeted advertising. Is DuckDuckGo a virus?ĭuckDuckGo isn’t a virus. DuckDuckGo’s strict stance on privacy means zero tracking on its platform and no targeted ads, so you can browse in relative safety and privacy. The company never stores personal information, search history, or other data it could potentially share with advertisers or other entities. Is DuckDuckGo safe?ĭuckDuckGo is safe to use. The browser isn’t available yet and doesn’t currently have a release date, but the product is a logical addition to DuckDuckGo’s already extensive presence across multiple platforms. ![]() Early information suggests that the application will come with all security features enabled by default, so you won’t need to go digging through the settings to ensure complete protection. Several sources, including The Verge, report that DuckDuckGo is working on privacy-oriented browsers for the macOS and Windows operating systems. But what about Mac and Windows? Has the company forgotten two of the most popular desktop operating systems? Perhaps not. DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials currently supports the following browsers:Īs you can see, DuckDuckGo offers apps for Android and iOS along with extensions for most common browsers. If you do need to quickly clear website data, you’ll need to follow the steps appropriate to the app you use. The only notable tool missing from Privacy Essentials is the burn button to close all tabs and remove browsing data. The DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials extension includes most of the features available in the mobile app, but you can install the add-on in any supported browser. Therefore, you should utilize specialized browsers, extensions, and other privacy tools, such as a VPN, whenever possible. While DuckDuckGo’s search engine can stop other companies from tracking you on its platform, you lose that protection once you enter a third-party website.

![]() As the command help states: ‘This is a development tool and shall only be used to analyse problems. The alternative to the CloneHd tool is an undocumented option available in VBoxManage – the setvdiuuid command. Copying a Disk – The ‘Unsupported’ Method The cloned disk can now be used on a new VM without incurring the ‘I already know about this disk’ error. The VBoxManage tool will chug away and clone the disk for you, creating a new UUID in the process: VBoxManage clonehd "DiskToClone.vdi" "ClonedDisk.vdi" In its simplest form, you would do something like this at the command-line: We need to invoke the CloneHd command of the VBoxManage tool, supplying the disk to clone and the name of the new ‘cloned’ disk. Cloning a Virtual Disk – The ‘Supported’ MethodĬloning a disk is (IMHO) a clunky and Unix-y type way of creating a duplicate disk. Lets look at these two methods in detail. The publicised way around this is to use the command-line VBoxManage CloneHd tool, however there is another – secret and undocumented – way to clone a disk: the setvdiuuid tool. A bit of a ‘wordy’ way to say that it already knows about this disk, don’t you think? If you copy the disk in Windows Explorer and try and use it in a new VM, VirtualBox will have a hissy fit and display the error shown below. With VirtualBox, copying a virtual disk is a bit of a pain. With VMWare’s various offerings, copying a virtual disk is easy: copy the disk in Windows Explorer and add it to a newly created VM VMWare will detect that the disk was a copy and create a new unique identifier (UUID) for the disk before adding it to the VM. That way, when I need a new machine, I can simply create a copy of the virtual disk and add any additional software I need, saving myself valuable time creating new virtual environments. Download it now from .Īs a virtual machine environment user, I regularly create ‘base’ images of machines that I can reuse – a base Windows Server 2003 environment, or SQL Server 2005 environment for example. This new feature is only available in the Sun VirtualBox 3.0 release and above. The toolbar can also be pinned open if required.įor those Windows users reading this post, the toolbar behaves just like the Remote Desktop toolbar that is displayed at the top of the screen during a Terminal Services session. When running a VM in full-screen mode, moving your mouse to the bottom of the screen displays the new toolbar, as shown below.Īll of the features available when running the VM in windowed mode are now available in full-screen mode, including: mounting devices, shared folders, shutdown options etc. It looks as though the VirtualBox Team have added a nice new feature in their 3.0 release – the full-screen toolbar! To move it to the top of the screen, open the Settings dialog for any VM, select General->Advanced and tick the Mini Toolbar: Show at Top of Screen. Update: The full-screen toolbar can be moved to the top of the screen, which (IMHO) is a much more usable location. Windows Server 2008 Core will kindly oblige and shutdown cleanly. Select the ‘Send the shutdown signal’ option and click Ok (the VM sometimes doesn’t respond to the first attempt, but the second attempt is usually recognised). I’ve recently discovered that Server Core will shutdown cleanly when sent the VirtualBox shutdown signal, issued when closing the VM – to bring up the Close Virtual Machine dialog (shown below), simply close the Window the VM is running in, type +Q, or issue the Machine->Close menu-command: Unfortunately, I’m lazy and can’t be bothered to log-in just to shutdown…. Shutting the sever down seems the best way to go, but given that Server Core is the window-less version of the OS, the shutdown command needs to be issued from the command-prompt. I run Windows Server 2008 Core in a VirtualBox virtual machine as my Active Directory Domain Controller for a small BizTalk test environment and I’ve discovered that it doesn’t take kindly to being ‘saved’ – when the server is resumed my other servers seem to be unable to communicate with it and do AD type ‘stuff’. ![]() Just one month after the Winter Update, a surprise update added a Forge remake of The Pit map called Empyrean and, most notably, a Custom Games Browser. Halo Infinite's version of Forge is its most powerful implementation yet, and creators within the Halo community continue to make high-quality maps and modes that impress. ![]() With the arrival of Halo Infinite's Winter Update on November 8, 2022, a new event battle pass was added, along with Online Campaign Co-op, two multiplayer maps, and the Forge Beta. After launching with only four game modes and ten maps for multiplayer, there are now ten game modes and fifteen maps available. XP rates have been increased, and the challenge system has been reworked so that players aren't funneled into specific game modes. Over the course of its first year, many of Halo Infinite's initial problems have been addressed, although not entirely resolved. While the game has been out for more than a year and there's still much work to be done, its most recent updates have provided players with a beacon of hope. At launch, Halo Infinite was held back by limited customization, overpriced and recycled store options, and a poor challenge/progression system. Due to the monetization of its F2P model, though, fans quickly noticed its underlying flaws. When Halo Infinite's multiplayer had its surprise release on November 15, 2021, many felt the gameplay was a return to form for the franchise. RELATED: How Halo Infinite's Multiplayer Compares to Halo 5 Why Halo Infinite's Recent Updates and Forge Bode Well For The Future However, while Halo Infinite's first year was undoubtedly a rough one, it capped off with the addition of long-awaited features along with a roadmap and DLC speculation that showcase a promising year ahead. Even after the much-needed delay, the newest entry in the Halo franchise has struggled to maintain relevancy as a live service game. It was also supposed to be the flagship launch title for the next-gen Xbox Series X/S, but was delayed a full year following its notorious gameplay reveal. Halo Infinite was originally touted by 343i as being a platform for the ten-year plan for Halo. Many gamers feel the damage has already been done, but with an idea of what's to come in 2023, there may be enough to keep Halo fans coming back throughout the year. Although Halo Infinite has a fairly well-received campaign, its shallow free-to-play multiplayer and delayed or totally missing features have left many players doubting the game's staying power. There are few names in the video game industry as recognizable as Halo, but Microsoft's premiere FPS franchise has struggled to connect with fans since 343 Industries took the reins from Bungie in 2012. ![]() This license is commonly used for video games and it allows users to download and play the game for free. However, you soon find yourself acquiring larger items that need to be carried to the boot of your car in order to transport them to the nearest buyer. Some jobs will simply involve stealing smaller items that you can carry in your bag. Viewed from a first-person perspective, you can equip yourself with specific tools, watch the movements of the houses occupants (signified by a white silhouette, which allows you to sneak in and out when their back is turned) and search, first-hand, whatever property you may be in to find any items that are worth stealing. The earlier levels provide you with specific properties to rob, but as the game opens up further, you begin to scope out the neighbourhoods yourself, watching the movements of inhabitants, checking out security cameras and whatever measures may be in place to try and keep you out especially in the larger and more prosperous areas and houses. Once you have your intel, you then find yourself in a semi-opened world of a local neighbourhood. You can also gain vital info through the dark web, such as the activity of occupants to alarm systems, if present, and even if they leave a front door key in a specific place. These can range from general dexterity to picking locks, acquiring surveillance equipment and glass cutters with which to gain a silent entry into the properties. As you work through the smaller jobs, you gain XP which helps level up your character in learning new skills. It’s from here that the game produces some of its finer moments. None of them ever feel over-complicated in their execution, largely thanks to the impressive way that the game helps guide you in a certain direction until it feels that your adept enough to let go of your hand. When you look deeper into the mechanics of the game, there’s a lot of little elements that combine to produce a bigger, overall picture. ![]() These begin with picking certain targets for you, to introducing you to the dark web from where you can find your own work or intel on the hits you are about to make, to where you can sell your goods and what needs to be done to escape the attentions of the public or the local police force. Your mentor, or the voice that guides you through your communicator, briefs you on what you need to do in order to advance yourself as a thief. In terms of gently easing you into the game, Thief Simulator does a good job of taking everything at the right pace a skill that is needed when you find yourself in the local neighbourhoods and being naughty. Before long you acquire a hideout and from here, you begin to delve deeper into the criminal activities of a full-time thief. It provides a good backdrop to the introductions of the mechanics in how the game works. Your not that fussy either about what you take, filling your swag bag with items such as toasters, pots and pans and the odd bit of scrap change lying about. You begin as a lowly criminal, committing lower-end levels of robberies that involves smashing windows with a brick to gain entry and sneaking around people’s gardens. In short, you play the role of a thief who, through the guidance of digital communication, begin to learn the techniques of your art by committing robberies to make enough money so that you can expand your knowledge and tools needed to advance to bigger and better properties and their valuable hordes within. By that I mean that the story isn’t the central plot here and doesn’t really push the game along. ![]() As you can see, its moralistic viewpoint can be a little questionable, but that certainly doesn’t detract from the heart-thumping experience that this title can give you. Oh no, this is far more intricate, simulating the actions of a bona-fide thief through finding ideal locations or properties to rob, picking locks, scoping out areas and the routines of the people around them, as well as seeking information on the black web and selling on your stolen goods to the local pawn shop. However, this isn’t your Payday, all guns blazing, affair. The last one to pay noticed the scam and added nothing above 22%, while the others unknowingly tipped 42% or 44% and could not go back and make the correction. The confusion continues when making the payment, and the nifty "would you like to add a gratuity" options of "20, 22, or 25%" pop up WITHOUT any notifications that 22% was already added. (What are the chances of that at a brewery and distillery?) The gratuity was automatically added at a healthy 22% for a wait staff that didn't take our order and didn't help with the order and didn't handle the payment. It feels like the payment system takes advantage of the patrons who do not know how it works and have had a couple of drinks or so. enjoying each other's company and catching up as we had initially intended.įurther, the payment process is even more confusing. We then spent most of our time deciphering and working the app on a small phone to read a large menu to get our food order figured out and then our payments sorted out vs. Once seated, we were advised that our order had to be placed using a QR code with our phones. This is about the restaurant's sit-down dining and service only. We were in the bar earlier for lunch and the food and service there were outstanding. We had an hour wait which was understandable for a party of six, so we enjoyed hanging out at the bar for some cocktails. The only difference is we placed the order at the table vs. Thinking back, it felt more like being in a fast-food restaurant that hands you a number to put on your table and then brings the food out to you. The price seems a little strong, but that alone would not keep me from returning. Please do not misunderstand my comment about the meal quality it's good, but there's nothing super amazing about food that was prepared ahead of time and brought out in less than 10 minutes. I could look past the price not quite aligning with the meal quality here as the choices of what and where to eat on the mountain run thin and tend to get crowded easily. The reason this review of the brewery/restaurant isn't five stars is solely on the restaurant. It's also conveniently located next to the Devils Backbone camp with full RV hookups and lots of room for tent campers, which I would rate 4 or 5 stars consistently. I put myself through college waitressing, and knew the value of a good tip. I told her that seemed ridiculous, and she snapped back at me stating “well you showed up 5 minutes before we close.” I hoped the kitchen was still able to make him chicken strips and fries, but she said the entire kitchen is broken down at exactly 8pm and there was nothing they could do. When the waitress delivered our food just minutes after 8pm (side note: for some reason our drinks came out AFTER our food), I told her that in the rush of ordering our dinner myself via their app, I forgot to order my 7 year old’s dinner. Shortly after (still before 8pm), the waitress saw us seated at a table and threw her arms up like “why are you here” and turned around and walked away. (The food ordering system is done through an app that you have to do yourself.) I quickly, under some serious stress. The hostess said we had 10 minutes to order like it was some kind of fire drill.
